Partner with Our Expert Wedding Planners in Costa Rica…Event planners secure quality vendors, for your wedding day, such as photographers/videographers, chef/catering services, floral/decor, entertainment, legal, etc. Also, wedding planners can be useful in that they provide realistic budgeting and valuable insight into the specifics of getting married in Costa Rica, even as small as Groom attire wedding planning.
“Get a planner. Sometimes, people just tell you what you want to hear in Costa Rica, and it’s not always true. Costa Ricans don’t like to say no. It comes from a place of goodness, but your planner will know when they’re telling the truth.” – Aimee Monihan, Tropical Occasions
“The day before the wedding, you can have a rehearsal dinner with a mariachi or a guitar player doing a traditional serenata, serenading the bride; ideally the groom will jump in! Then, during the reception, you can offer drinks that feature local fruit like passion fruit or mango, as well as candies and conos, Costa Rican snow cones.” – Susan La Reau, Susan La Reau Weddings & Events
“Ideally, you want to get your main vendors booked as soon as you get engaged and decide you want to get married in Costa Rica. Villa Punto de Vista books up quickly. As do the best photographers, videographers, caterers, and bands/ DJs. So, start there. Your style as a bride may change over the course of a year, so leave little details and the dress until six months or so before the wedding or less.” – Larissa Banting, Weddings Costa Rica
“I always recommend couples get married at the beginning of their stay in Costa Rica. Naturally, even with the best planner and a seamless plan, there can sometimes be stress with guest arrival and making sure everything is running smoothly. So, getting married early on in your time in Costa Rica helps couples release that stress and allows them to enjoy the villa stress-free after the wedding.” – Kristina Ullrich, Perennial Weddings & Events
The short answer? Don’t.
When it comes to attire, bring it with you. Multiple planners we know have said that there have been wardrobe snafus due to shipping. Ask the flight attendants to store the dress in first class, if possible, and if not, go online and buy a suitcase specifically made for wedding dresses.
Then, for favors, buy local! A few suggestions provided were small bottles of local liquor, local snacks, Imperials (the national beer), or things like that that give a literal and figurative taste of the destination.
