The Villa Punto de Vista Team

ELEMENT 1
TITLE: WELCOME TO THE VILLA PUNTO DE VISTA ESTATE

Congratulations! You are about to enjoy a private luxury stay at the Villa Punto de Vista Estate in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica!

Your group leader is currently coordinating every logistics of your stay with our villa pre-arrival concierge. Later your group leader will be in contact with you to request key info from you such as your flight and arrival details (to best coordinate your private transportation to the villa), any dietary preferences and allergies in your group as well as other info to make your stay both bespoke and remarkable! Additionally they will be sending you an updated itinerary of your stay.

The estate consists of two luxury villas on our gated 2.5-acre private estate. They are:

8 Bedroom Villa La Isla & 10 bedroom Villa Punto de Vista

If your group leader booked both villas there will be an open internal connection to easily walk between the villas. If not, there will be no connection between the villas.

ELEMENT 2 (Several elements – How do we place this info?> Sandi Questions?)

Maintaining the villa and keeping your rooms beautiful is our villa housekeeping staff! The rooms, social areas, kitchen, etc. will be tended to and cleaned daily. They take care of everything you need within the rooms, including bedding/linens, fresh towels, etc will be laundered daily as you might expect in a luxury hotel.

Our villa maintenance and security staff keep the villa running smoothly and safely.

Lastely, if the 5 – 7 minute walk to the beach isn’t in the cards, than let your villa chauffeur drive you down in our villa beach-access vehicle in one-minute flat! Here’s on call throughout the day.

Breakfast is Served!
Every morning, enjoy a handmade, gourmet breakfast that is complimentary with your stay (overnight guests only). It begins with the aroma of some of the world’s finest coffee, delicious tropical juices, and sweet seasonal fruits picked from only a few valleys away.
Your daily gourmet breakfast is lovingly prepared by our onsite cook. Continental breakfast is served between 7 – 8am daily. Our full breakfast is served from 8 – 10 am daily and features a blend of both International and Costa Rican morning favorites, including eggs to order and an assortment of freshly baked breads, cereals and some of your chef’s inspired morning creations.
We only use the freshest and tastiest local ingredients. Add to all this, Punto de Vista’s signature tropical champagne mimosas and a breathtaking ocean view – really, it’s the best way to start the day.
Lunches & Dinners
The open-air, yet covered, dining areas at the Villa Punto de Vista Estate offer endless views upon the rainforest and the spectacular Manuel Antonio Bay. It’s no wonder the majority of your meals probably will be enjoyed here at the villa! Several wonderful options are possible to enjoy a gastronomic experience at Villa Punto de Vista:

For chef-prepared meals (arranged by your group leader w/ our villa Pre-Arrival Concierge) at the villa, they are skillfully prepared, made with only the freshest local ingredients and served by attentive service staff. From one special meal to your entire stay, this is a great & convenient service for the ultimate in pampering.

Professional Kitchens – Additionally, the commercial-grade villa kitchens can be used by your group to prepare your own delicious meals as desired. Also, both villas feature BBQ’s for poolside cookouts which are popular! The villa kitchens are stocked with pots, and pans, silverware, plate ware, napkins, basic kitchen necessities for cooks in your groups or tropical “Iron Chef” competitions among the guests!

Order Out/Delivery Options – Ordering delicious food from restaurants couldn’t be easier! Plan a delivery meal with many of the delicious local restaurants/eateries ahead of time or coordinate with your on-site concierge a few hours before to arrange a last-minute meal. (TIP: Due to the size of the group it’s important to order these meals with at least a day’s anticipation or a few hours to avoid a long wait or any issues in case of high demand!) Options include the usual delivery favorites from Pizza, hamburgers, chicken wings and sandwiches to fine dining options like steak, seafood, Thai and Mediterranean food. See our dining blog for more info.

Again, your villa butler/concierge will assist with ordering and giving you nearby ordering options that are available. Payment for delivery food and groceries is made on a credit card at the moment of delivery at the villa gate.

For all dining options above (Chef-prepared, order-in or cook yourself meals) your group leader will be communicating that with your group on the Online Villa Stay Itinerary or directly.

Beverages
You are all on vacation in the tropics so we know this is going to be important to all! 🙂
There is nothing better than sitting back on a pristine beach enjoying a cocktail or one of the Villas famous pools with a Pina Colada!

Although we do not include beverages or sell beverages (outside of breakfast daily) there are many convenient ways to prepare the villa(s) with delicious and refreshing beverages.
Beverage Pre-Stocking – Your group leader may be pre-purchasing a small selection of beverages for overnight guests of the villa via our Pre-arrival Concierge.
Delivery Services at the villa – One of the most convenient options for beverages and food would be to order items through the concierge via Grocery Store/Liquor store Delivery services. Here in Costa Rica this is very common and has a small price tag. About $5-$10 USD per delivery for any of the items you need. You can order from a large variety of national and imported alcoholic and non-alcoholic Beverages(Snacks too!) NOTE: *This must be paid in full at the time of arrival of the goods. No credit is offered.
Bring your own beverages – Feel free to purchase beverage on the way to the villa fro the airport on one of the many grocery stores (Automercado in Jaco Waze Link or IN Quepos – Mini-price store) Waze Link – A popular option is to buy in the duty-free right outside the immigration checkpoint.

ELEMENT 3
TITLE: LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION…

Only one of the loveliest spots on Planet Earth: Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica!
Our location, just a short stroll to the beach (Rated as one of the top 12 best beaches in the world by Trip advisor!) — under a minute in our private beach buggy — but removed from the tourist bustle, is Manuel Antonio’s best. In fact, there is no other large, private villa in the region closer to the beach. And not just the beach: we’re only minutes to Manuel Antonio National Park, local spas, the best restaurants and top activities, like canopy ziplines, parasailing, hiking and catamaran sailing.
From the villa, the view stretches to tiny islands that dot the curving bay. Three types of monkeys chatter in the trees, where curious sloths also laze. Parrots, Toucans and colorful birds share the air space. This is Manuel Antonio, as seen from the picture-perfect heights of The Villa Punto de Vista Estate!

“MANUEL ANTONIO” SECTION

ELEMENT 1
TITLE: WELCOME TO MANUEL ANTONIO!

Welcome to paradise! Manuel Antonio has consistently been named one of the top spots in the Americas to travel and is a favorite location for eco, adventure and luxury tourism in Costa Rica. The world famous Manuel Antonio National Park and surrounding area is a national treasure and offers its visitors an endless variety of flora and fauna along with a stunning seascape.
Manuel Antonio is located on the verdant South-Central Pacific coast of Costa Rica – free of Carribean hurricanes – and features some of the country’s most gorgeous beaches. In fact, Manuel Antonio’s priceless beaches have consistently been listed as one of the top 15 beaches in the world by Forbes magazine, among the top 12 Beaches in the world by Trip Advisor and has been profiled by countless other news outlets, as well. Here’s a glimpse.
Beyond the national park and the area’s exquisite beaches, Manuel Antonio offers restaurants, bars/nightlife, boating, sport fishing, shopping and cultural attractions as well.
ELEMENT 2
TITLE: WHAT’S THE AREA LIKE
Manuel Antonio can probably be best described as a quaint hill-side and beach-side enclave offering panoramic scenery, exotic wildlife and endless tours and activities to enjoy year round. The tree-studded town is teaming with monkeys, sloths and tropical birds as well as some of the friendliest people on earth! The area is peppered with low-profile villas, hotels and restaurants. It’s small scale and not even a little bit like Cancun or the Mexican Riviera though there are some fun and unique bars as well as nightlife – even a tiny casino thrown in for good measure!

The nearby town of Quepos offers the area one of Latin America’s finest marinas, Marina Pez Vela, featuring world-class boating / sportfishing (The World Off-Shore Shortfishing Championships are held year annually), upscale and fine-dining, shopping and other amenities.

ELEMENT 3
TITLE: TELL ME ABOUT THE WEATHER?
Manuel Antonio has some of the best weather in the world. Experience glorious sunshine, warm temperatures and comfortable evenings in one of the world’s most breathtaking locations.
The average daytime temperature in Manuel Antonio hovers between 80º and 85º F (26.5º to 29.5º C) year-round, with refreshing sea breezes. At night, temperatures fall to a cool 70º to 75º F (18º to 24º C) — the perfect climate for dining al fresco. Enjoy the ocean’s incredibly comfy temperature of 78º/80º year-round!
During Costa Rica’s High Season, late November through May, we receive very little or no rainfall and sunshine all day long. In Costa Rica’s Northern Pacific coast, this makes for dry, brown and dusty conditions. However, in Costa Rica’s lush central Pacific Coast, where our villa is located, it’s always green regardless of season.
During the Costa Rica’s transitional Green Season from May through August, you can expect beautiful sunny mornings and early afternoons allowing loads of time for activities, adventures and beach time. It will sometimes rain a bit in the afternoons during these months, but remember — it’s the rainforest, and rainfall in the rainforest is a magical thing! An additional benefit to Green Season is that the price is a bit lower.
September and October is the Central Pacific’s Whale Watching Season, which also happens to be the rainforest’s rainiest most fertile months. This area is one of the world’s only breeding grounds for both Blue, Humpback and Pilot whales. You can see them breaching from the villa, or we can arrange a boat ride from our local marina to see them up close! These whales travel from both Alaska and Antarctica and meet in Costa Rica — 11,500 miles away — to mate and raise their young.
During Whale Watching Season, you can find some mornings to be clear for beach time and activities. Every month has a lot to offer here on Costa Rica’s central coast! As an all-weather paradise, tours and activities don’t stop for a shower in Costa Rica — in fact, they can even be more refreshing, memorable and fun!

TITLE: SO MANY BEACHES SO LITTLE TIME…
So many beaches so little time…
Manuel Antonio is known for its pristine jungle kissed beaches, but Manuel Antonio hold the title as the #1 beach in year over year for it’s picturesque Emerald Water, Unique Rock and island outcroppings and Jungle studded coastline as well as not to mention the National Parks world famous jurassic park like Isthmus! Voted by trip advisor as one of the top 12 beaches in the world several times as well as the top 20 beaches by forbes, we are extremely lucky to be just a short walk away to these rejuvenating and awe inspiring locations to live a truly salt llife!
From the villa, we have 5 beaches within less than 10 minutes from the property. All within walking distance and all with their own unique experience and flavor. From hidden coves, White sand beaches of the national park, to the longer half mile golden sand beach of the most well known espadilla beach, there is an experience for every day while you experience Costa Rica. Then choose which is your favorite.
We happen to be the closest property to the golden sand beach of Espadilla norte on our road. A more secluded and less traveled road and part of the beach, we avoid the busier town like feel of Espadilla sur (Where the town like atmosphere and vendors are) where you can hang up your hammock and relax with the sound of the crashing warm waves and enjoy the pristine coastline.
For the slightly more adventurous, there is just a 10 minute walk from the villa is the hidden cove of Playa biesanz and playa la macha. Playa bisanez has a small 10 minute hike to a sheltered bay on the north side of punto quepos. A totally different feel and experience from the other beaches. Great for snorkeling in the summer season as well as kayaking. For the the more adventurous Playa la Macha is about a 10 minute hike beyond playa biesanz and is definitely totally hidden as it can only be accessed by a truly offroad hike. This hike is not for everyone but has an incredible surprise!
Lastly, the national park beaches is a special treat, Although the parks can have slightly more people depending on the season in which you visit, the 3 beaches are spectacularly beautiful and range from White Sand Turquoise water, Golden Sand South End of Espadilla and a rockier beach with great snorkeling in the summer months! A must visit anytime of the year at least once!
Just a little further out from the villa, which a tour or a private transportation there are some amazing options within 30-45 minutes.,From world class surfing, Snorkeling and the whales tale of Ballena national Narp just 45 minutes south to name a few!

TITLE: AREA WILDLIFE
Costa Rica’s and specifically Manuel Antonio’s wildlife is unrivaled! Venture into Costa Rica’s dense jungle and discover a diverse ecosystem unlike any other in the world. With more than 500,000 species of plants and animals throughout our country, Costa Rica is one of the most biodiverse nations, accounting for more than 5% percent of all species worldwide.
Daily viewings of multiple types of monkeys, sloths and 350 of the country’s almost 1000 species of exotic birds is something to expect and not just wish for!
Howler, squirrel, spider and white faced monkeys all inhabit the park. Two-toed and three-toed sloths are abundant as are raccoons, coatis, pacas, anteaters, and occasionally ocelots. Reptiles and over 350 bird species have been identified within the park including toucans, aracaris, various parrots and parakeets, hummingbirds, trogons and more. In short, it’s a jungle out there! 🙂
To give you an idea: Here’s some home video shot from the villa of some of the Congo (Howler) Monkeys in the area.
Costa Rica’s and specifically Manuel Antonio’s wildlife is unrivaled.
ELEMENT 5
TITLE: SAFETY
Manuel Antonio is historically a very safe place! Crime is rare and violent crime even rarer. Like anywhere in the world and common while traveling in tourist locations, Petty theft is possible so obvious things like leaving your belongings unattended on the beach (for example) is not recommended. We go over a number of common questions on safety below:
Walking Around the Area?
You are free to walk freely and safely between the villa to the beach, along the beach to the town of Manuel Antonio and the entrance to the national park and even along the roads to other villas and hotels. However, certain precautions should be followed: First, when walking along roads note that sidewalks are not as common here as they are in your country. Therefore additional caution is necessary. Especially at night where walking beside the road is not recommended at all due to lack of visibility and limited night-lighting. Second, we do not recommend walking to the beach at night. This is covered below.
Are Taxi’s Safe?
It is common to take a taxi or even an UBER (day or night) from point A to B in Manuel Antonio and it is considered to be very safe. Our villa concierge or your hotel concierge will assist you with this. For more on taxis/UBERS see our XXXXX section.
MORE ON TAXIS TO BE MOVED TO ANOTHER SECTION:
Taxis are a common transportation option everywhere in Costa Rica as well as Manuel Antonio. There are a couple of recommendations we have when using local taxis. All true taxis in Costa Rica are government run and safe. You can differentiate these taxis with the red color and Yellow triangle on the doors. They have a machine that count’s the distance you have traveled and will charge you accordingly. If your leaving from the villa have our concierge, night concierge or guard call a taxi for you anytime to take you where you need to go.
If your coming to the villa or need one to get to Point A-B, then be sure to use these official taxis only. There are “Pirate” taxis available that will most likely be slightly cheaper but generally they are not as safe or dependable and don’t have the required insurances that the Government red taxis have, which are the only ones we recommend using. If you have a telephone be sure to get the taxis number from the concierge (We have a few taxis that work with us directly) that speak english can possibly be available and help you with any transportation needs. Additionally, if you would like to go to another beach or area nearby you can use the 4×4 taxis or other recommended transportation companies.
A Typical cost of a ride to the national park is $10 – $12 USD. To the town of Quepos it could cost similarly $10 – $15 and to restaurants jus a quarter of a mile they cost around $10 – $15. Prices may vary depending on the type of taxi. 4×4 are a little more expensive and because they come from the town of quepos there is a minuum of $10 cost to almost any location between the passengers that fit. 4 – 5 adults which comes out to $2-4 dollars per person per trip.
TIP: If at any point the Taxi tries to charge you more than the above amounts, just tell them no thank you and grab another taxi. Not a common occurrence but unfortunately sometimes taxis try to charge a full fare to each individual in the car.
Going to the beach at night?
We think it’s good common practice to primarily enjoy the beach by day (sunset as well!) but once the sun has gone down we believe it’s best to return to the villa. It’s tempting to enter the warm ocean at night (not recommended and covered below) and crime on the beach – while extremely rare – is possible. Also, tides can also be deceiving at night and a long walk on the beach could start with a large beach and end with a tiny one! This can be dangerous so walking along the sea at night possesses certain risks. For all the reasons above, we think it’s prudent to enjoy the beach only at the times mentioned above.
Can I swim at the beach?
Absolutely! With golden sand beaches, palm trees swaying and 80 degree water year round you will LOVE our amazing beaches but, like any beach, precautions must be followed. First note that there are no on-duty lifeguards on the beach below the villa and with rip tides and currents possible and difficult to interpret from shore, entry into the ocean with a buddy is recommended and at least another party on shore as well. We strongly advise not swimming in the ocean at night for the same reasons as the sea can be even more disorienting in the darkness.
Can I eat at the restaurants?
Absolutely! Manuel Antonio has a diverse array of restaurants to cover any pallet and it’s very safe to eat in restaurants in the area from mom and pop locales to formal dining typically enjoyed by tourists. Costa Rican eateries are permitted to operate only thru certification by the Costa Rican Health Inspection Service so any restaurant, big or small, is monitored with consistency throughout the year by these entities.
TIP: Do not forget that the tips are included within the price at restaurants. It’s always recommended if the server has done a great job, that a small recognition is greatly appreciated!
MORE ON RESTAURANTS TO BE MOVED TO ANOTHER SECTION:
Although we are a small town and have a limited number of restaurants, you can find almost anything your looking for. From Typical American bar food wings, Burgers to typical Costa Rican cuisine (Which we highly recommend you try!), Breakfast cafe’s, Thai Food, Hand tossed pizzas, Italian fare to the best steaks and freshest seafood you have ever had. With a variety of atmospheres and experiences such as weekly live music to stunning panoramic ocean views to enjoy your delicious meals!
In our “Best Restaurants blog” (Click link) we have gone over our favorites and top recommendations that has been compiled over the years! Here you will find it’s completely/totally safe to eat at and enjoy their delicious local fruit smoothies (With or without Alcohol) 🙂 Being so close to the ocean, the fish and produce are usually brought in the same day and incredibly fresh! Ask your waiter for recommendations and ask if they have “Catch of the day” but there is no reason to worry about food in Manuel Antonio!

TIP: Avoid street side food vendors. Although the majority are incredibly clean and delicious it’s best you avoid any ceviche or street side food vendors. One exception for the more adventurous would be to try pre-cooked Empanadas, coconuts.
Can I drink the water?
It’s generally safe to drink tap water in Costa Rica, except in the most rural and undeveloped parts of the country. However, if you prefer to be cautious, buying bottled water is your best bet but our clients rarely have any issue having the ice or delicious fruit smoothies that are offered and which we highly recommend you try. Be sure to stick to the restaurants in the above “Restaurant” list if you’re a little concerned about which restaurants to drink natural fruit juices.
Wild Animals?
Manuel Antonio is an incredible location surrounded by rainforest, beautiful golden sand beaches and the famous national park. One of the major attractions to the area is it’s abundance of flora and fauna to experience. Often you will see a variety of different species almost everywhere you go. (Sloths, Monkeys, Iguana’s, Coatimundi, anteaters, Deer, and rarely a ocelot, Scarlet McCaws, Toucans, Parrots, Plethora of birds) that really makes the exitoc and wild nature of the area a highlight.
Although many of these animals are truly beautiful to see and get close, there is no danger to you or your family. With that said, you have to remember these wil animals are in their habitat. Do not feed the animals or touch them as human microbes can actually damage the fragile ecosystem of the local wildlife.
TIP: While at the national park, make sure to keep a close eye on your important belongings. Such as Purses with passports or fanny packs. As the petty theft can be done by monkeys! Either try to carry the items in a waterproof bag while you are enjoying the beautiful beaches or close your backpack and we sure it’s anchored down or covered with a towel. Many tourists have had their passports and wallets taken to the tree to never be seen again! #Monkeytheft

Villa Safety: (For FAQ)
Kids Safety: (Subsection:)
The villas of the Villa Punto de Vista Estate are a paradise for children! However, precautions should be taken regardless to ensure child-safety for our younger guests:
General Villa Safety
Both villas have high vantage points to enjoy the amazing view. Most with extremely safe glass railings preventing small children from going “thru” the railing. However, it’s important to never place furniture close to the glass railings as this could provide a stepping opportunity for small children.
Pool Safety
There is no lifeguard on duty at either villa, therefore, a parent of guardian must supervise children 12 and under pool-side when children are present. This applies to the main pools in both villas and the rooftop jacuzzi and reflecting pool at the entry of 10 bedroom Villa Punto de Vista. Also, the floor around the pools or water elements can sometimes be slippery when wet. Running in these areas, when wet, is not permitted.

TITLE: History of Manuel Antonio!

Read More here: (Blog)

When the Spanish first laid eyes on this spectacular coast, its masters were the Quepo (sometimes called the Quepoa, or “los Quepos”), said to be a warlike people who had migrated here from Colombia. In 1519, the Spanish explorer Hernán Ponce de León (nephew of Juan, the discoverer of Florida) scouted Costa Rica’s Pacific coast by sea, from Punta Burica on the modern border with Panama to the Golfo de Nicoya, and he sailed into this lovely, sheltered bay. But on the shore he was greeted by a show of hostility from hundreds of angry natives shouting and waving weapons in the air.
Ponce de León wisely continued on his way without attempting to land. It appears to be mostly myth that his more famous uncle had searched for a “fountain of youth” — but what neither of them was searching for was a sudden death.
The Spanish
Four years later, in 1523, a Spaniard named Gil González Dávila came here the hard way, on foot. He met the natives, exacted tribute from them, and reported to his superiors that this area had more gold than 13 of the 14 other chiefdoms the Spanish had encountered.
Yet it took 40 years for the Spanish crown to ask Juan Vázquez de Coronado to conquer and colonize this Costa Rican backwater, which he proceeded to do in 1563. He sent 70 soldiers from the Central Valley on Jan. 27, but they found the going very difficult, and were threatened by hunger and thirst.

The banana company
Fast-forward three and a half centuries, and Costa Rica has become the world’s first “banana republic.” A U.S. businessman named Minor Keith finished a railroad from San José to Limón in 1890, and under the banner of the United Fruit Company he became extremely rich exporting the relatively unknown but super-popular banana to the United States and Europe.
A Panamanian blight struck the Caribbean banana plantations in the 1920s, and United Fruit started looking for greener pastures. Contrary to popular belief, however, it did not start the banana business in Quepos.
In 1926 he started shipping the fruit to San Francisco and Vancouver. He also shipped bananas to Puntarenas, where they were taken by rail to Limón and exported to the eastern U.S. and Europe.
The United Fruit Company bought out the Pirrís operation in 1934 and made it a major center of Pacific operations for the banana giant, along with Golfito farther south. Thousands of people began migrating to Quepos for jobs, many of them from Nicaragua, and the area became a hotbed of economic activity.
A new dock was built and went into operation in 1939. In 1940 the banana company (known today as Chiquita) opened a hospital in the “American Zone” where much of the management lived, behind today’s marina.
At that time, in what is today downtown Quepos, there was absolutely nothing,” a resident named Misael Murillo is quoted as saying in Monge Maykall’s history. “Everything you see there today, when I went through here before 1938, it was a huge mangrove.”
United Fruit cleared the mangroves, brought in landfill and began building what is today downtown Quepos. A railroad was built, big ships sailed in and out of the new port, and the town flourished.
But massive flooding in 1954 and 1955 devastated local plantations.

TITLE: Restaurants
In Manuel Antonio, there is no shortage of extraordinary dining experiences. From Pizza, Thai, Imported steaks, classic american bar food and Casual local fair, You can enjoy a wide range of cuisine in many beautiful locales; from the most elegant to great casual spots. For special experiences look for beautiful ocean/sunset venues or a quick bite within the town with monkey visitors

Our blog features a list of our favorites but below you will find some key restaurant information that we know you will find useful.

Must Try Items
First of all, let’s get one thing straight: Costa Rica has the best coffee – In the world – Hands down! An incredible variety of fresh and delicious fruit (Best pineapples in the world – FYI ..Hawaii imports Costa Rican Pineapples!) perfect for a delicious daily fruit smoothie or need we say a pina colada!
Some must try breakfast items in Costa Rica are actually enjoyed for EVERY meal and those include Costa Rica’s famous “gallo pinto” (blended rice and beans) which is delicious! Another traditional favorite is the “casado” which is basically a simple meat, poultry or fish dish paired with – you guessed it – gallo pinto! Other common Costa Rican dishes include our version of “ceviche”, “platanos” and “patacones” (fried plantains) and for desert you might enjoy an a nice “flan” or “arroz con leche” (rice with milk). Provecho!!! (That’s our version of Bon Appetit!)
Taxes and Tipping
There is sometimes a bit of confusion when looking at a menu in Costa Rica as prices are often displayed 2X. One “sin IVI” and the other “con IVI” which translates to without tax and with tax. Since the only thing you can count on in life is death and taxes – yes – you will have to pay the price with tax which is 13%. On top of that you will need to pay a 10% service fee so that typically covers the tip. Most Costa Rican’s don’t tip but they REALLY APPRECIATE the generosity of American’s and Canadians that are accustomed to not only typing but leaving more than a 10% tip. Our suggestion is to be generous and leave an additional tip. Your server will say “Gracias y Pura Vida” as you walk out the door and you will feel good about being thanked and wished a “pure life”!!! 🙂
Restaurant Hours & Reservations
For the majority of the restaurants they will open around noon (Except Cafe’s and breakfast spots) and the mass majority will close at 9 sharp. There are a few restaurants that will stay open till 10 (Jolly Rogers Wings, El Lagarto) but it’s best to go early!
Restaurants will also tend to be closed one day a week (Usually Monday or Tuesday) and or close early on sundays. It would also be best to coordinate directly with the restaurant or with your concierge/front desk to be sure the restaurant you want to go to try will be open as well!
Manuel Antonio is a small town and depending on the season, restaurants can fill up and become quite full during the High and Green Seasons and especially on the weekends. If you are a larger group over 6, it’s best to call in ahead and make a reservation as well as confirm the time they close. For groups tha are larger than 12, it’s best to call the day before or at least 24hrs in advance!
Restaurant Delivery
For those who may not prefer the formality of a chef for every meal, food delivery to the villa is a great option! The area features to-go and delivery options from Italian, Mexican, Thai, Cuban, etc. to the best burgers and chicken wings this side of the Mississippi! Your butler/estate manager will take your order at the villa and phone it in. Delivery usually takes not more than 30 – 45min. Delivery orders are paid for in cash or by credit card at the villa gate.

TITLE: Bars / Nightlife
Although you may never want to leave the luxury, convenience and ambiance of the villa, Manuel Antonio / Quepos does have some nightlife for an outing. Just up the road from the villa you will find a few local options:
Cafe Milagro: Your closest option may be the best! Cafe Milagro offers not only fine dining but a very classy but laid back atmosphere with weekly acoustic performances and great Costa Rican craft beer. Enjoy!
Barba Roja: This is a Manuel Antonio classic and known by all. It has both indoor and outdoor dining as well as a stage for performances. The food is good – they even have sushi! – and it’s a lively bar into the night. A great hangout for locals and travelers alike.
Bar Jolly Roger: Founded by a Pittsburgh radio personality, Bar Jolly Roger is a sport’s bar and takes burgers and wings to new heights in both flavor and variety with over 30 options of chicken wings alone! The beer is cold and the place heats up at night with a great late night vibe. You can even gamble at their small casino – which is about the size of postage stamp – but hey, it’s gambling! 🙂
La Cantina: Another Manuel Antonio classic is La Cantina. The food is terrific here as well and they specialize in outdoor grilled meats and seafood accompanied by exotic cocktails. The “Jungle Boys” have been playing there since the beginning of time itself and they are lively and very fun to dance to if you’ve had enough of their great cocktails!
Runaway Grill: About a 12 minute drive from the villa – on the outskirts of Quepos – you will find the amazing Marina Pez Vela. Probably best described as a classy, dock-side, Gastro-Pub, the Runaway offers delicious food and drinks in a comfortable, Jimmy Buffet style environment. One of our favorites!
