Is there anything more romantic than a destination wedding on the beach surrounded by your loved-ones? It conjures up picture-perfect images of a happy bride and groom basking in the sunlight with waves crashing around them as they exchange their vows.
Preparing for a wedding like that from thousands of miles away, however, can be a daunting task. With that in mind, we’ve assembled a few questions you should ask of your potential venue.
Will There Be Other Wedding Parties?
Some hotels can have several weddings taking place on the same day. While some are equipped to handle simultaneous competing events, the individual attention you will receive may be compromised. You’ll also want to have your pick of spots to take your wedding photos without having to wait for another party to be done taking theirs. There’s also the risk of noise from another nearby celebration intruding on yours. After all, it is your special day, and it is understandable not to want to share it with another couple.
Will There Be Someone Onsite to Help?
Whether you’re preparing for the big day, or you’re looking for a fun diversion or excursion, having someone on staff present to assist you with your every need can be invaluable.
Does the Venue Have Alternative Spaces Available?
When you’re planning an outdoor wedding, it’s critical to have a plan B in case of bad weather. Although the rainy season in Costa Rica is generally limited to late May and early November, it’s best to have a venue that can provide coverage for outdoor areas and allow for an indoor alternative, if only to give you that added peace of mind.
At Villa Punto de Vista, for example, we have our very popular rooftop deck, the events terrace, the pool deck for outdoor areas that can be covered and feature semi-transparent rainwalls, if needed. We also have our majestic air-conditioned ballroom as an indoor option.
Does the Wedding Venue Provide Audio-Visual and PA Equipment?
It wouldn’t be a wedding without speeches and it wouldn’t be a party without music and dancing. To make that happen, you need good quality sound equipment. It’s very important to know if you will need to rent PA and/or video equipment for your reception. Of course, at Villa Punto de Vista, we have a complete in-house PA system, complete with a projector for video or slide shows and disco lights to create the atmosphere of celebration. And we even have a backup power plant, so there won’t be any interruptions due to a power outage.
Is the Wedding Venue Wheelchair Accessible?
If any of your guests have mobility issues or are elderly, you will want to be sure the venue has the necessary ramps and elevator access.
At Villa Punto de Vista, we understand that your wedding should be the day of your dreams. That’s why our pre-arrival butler is available to you to help you arrange all the details from connecting you with a local wedding planner or photographer to booking accommodations for guests not staying at the villa.
